No Tricks, Just Treats: How the Biggest Cruise Lines Celebrated Halloween

Halloween at sea brought crew members together for a night of costumes, creativity and fun. From pumpkin carving in the galley to lively crew parties and costume contests, the celebrations gave colleagues a chance to unwind and share a few laughs. For those spending months away from home, occasions like these can help build friendships and make life onboard feel a little more like family.

Here is how the cruise lines celebrated Halloween on the High Seas

Carnival's Star: Patch the Pumpkin Pirate

Carnival's official Halloween mascot returned. The main Facebook page posted a "Go Ahead, Treat Yourself" campaign, showing Patch — a giant jack-o'-lantern pirate with an eyepatch and purple coat — taking over the atrium. The post mixed costume inspiration for kids with a 55% off deal.

The brand is pushing "Frightfully Fun" as its fleet-wide theme. Every ship got orange garlands, themed food, and a deck party.

Carnival technicians Renee and Wesley show how Patch is built. The reel explains the Halloween program: costume competitions, themed Bingo, and a deck party. It’s the most viewed Halloween post from Carnival this year.

Royal Caribbean Goes Full Horror-Chic

The most viral post came on Halloween night itself. Filmed on Icon-class, it opens with a crew member in a vampire cape singing “No washy washy” and moves to pumpkin carving, beach-ball costumes, and a UV skeleton party with an orange balloon drop.

Costa Cruises Halloween Night

On Costa Toscana, the celebrations began with crew members working together to make Halloween decorations before enjoying the festivities later that evening.

Aboard Costa Serena, crew gathered for a Halloween party featuring a costume contest, with a judging panel choosing the best looks. Costa’s post highlighted how these shared occasions give colleagues time to connect beyond their daily responsibilities.

Windstar Cruises also put its crew in the spotlight, sharing Halloween celebrations that showcased the teams’ creativity and playful side.

In a separate post, the company highlighted its galley team’s pumpkin-carving tradition. Crew members stepped away from their usual tasks to turn pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns, adding some friendly competition to the onboard celebrations.

Viking shared its own Halloween greeting from its ocean ships, drawing attention to the festive atmosphere and decorations created by crew.
