Norwegian Cruise Line officials announced the delay in opening of their private island Harvest Caye. Located off the southern coast of Belize, Harvest Caye was originally scheduled to open on 16 February, 2016 with Norwegian Jade as a first ship scheduled to visit the island. NCL rescheduled the opening date for November 2016 without specifying exact day. 

In a statement, Vivian Ewart, NCL vice president for guest services has confirmed that guests who booked Harvest Caye in their Western Caribbean cruises, will be switched with Belize City. 

 “We are dedicated to delivering the highest quality amenities and services to our guests in one of the richest ecosystems in the region with a diversity of flora and fauna that is core to the Harvest Caye experience. As a result, the grand opening of Harvest Caye will take place in November 2016.” 

The Island is planned to be “resort-style” port with features such as “giant pool, shallow lagoon for watersports, exclusive beach, and private luxury cabanas.
