It was September 6, 2023. I was the only crew member in the hotel scheduled to join Margaritaville at Sea Paradise. Around 7 a.m., I had a nice breakfast in the hotel and went back to get my stuff ready in the room. I left my cozy hotel room around 9 a.m., and the driver drove me to the West Palm Beach Port, just a short trip away from the hotel.

Outside in the waiting area, there was an older man from Guatemala holding a sign with my name on it. He seemed like a nice person. We shook hands, greeted each other, and went to the nearby shuttle bus. From Miami airport to West Palm Beach, it took around a two-hour ride. I was the only person on the bus, so I had space to rest my legs after an exhausting flight. The bus driver told me that he was 67 years old and still doing two jobs to feed his family.
