Meet the Only American Captain in the German Cruise Line Mein Schiff

Since August 2024, Mein Schiff has been featuring a series of videos introducing the captains of their fleet. One standout is Captain Todd Burgman, the only American captain in the German cruise line. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Todd joined the Mein Schiff fleet in 2014, leaving behind a career as a finance professor in New York. His journey to becoming a cruise ship captain is inspiring, as he shares his experiences and passions, including his love for cycling and his impressive ability to speak German.

Crew Center recently received a letter from a former crew member who wanted to share his side of the story about a situation that ended with him losing his job. 
This crew member worked as a bartender on the cruise ship MSC Seaside, and thought of his team as family. They joked around, supported each other, and made their work environment feel like home. He worked closely with a waitress from the Philippines, and for two months, they had a good working relationship filled with jokes and mutual respect.

Job Seekers Scammed in Fake Cruise Ship Employment Scheme

A number of aspiring crew members from Bali have fallen victim to a scam promising employment on cruise ships in exchange for substantial payments, ranging into thousands of US dollars. The victims were lured into transferring money after being deceived by scammers who used social media platforms to carry out the fraud. The scammers created cloned social media accounts resembling PT Ratu Oceania Raya, a legitimate recruiting agency for several cruise lines.

Costa Cruises announced the grand opening of the new Crew Bar on Costa Fascinosa. The crew bar is a place where all crew members can relax and enjoy their free time after a hard day's work, and now the Costa Fascinosa crew can enjoy a completely new venue.

Last month, the ship celebrated the inaugural event, attended by the Master, Chief Engineer, the Crew Welfare Committee, and dedicated colleagues. This new space is designed to provide the hardworking crew with a place to unwind and socialize.
