Brazil plans to charter two cruise ships to serve as floating hotels during the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP30), set to take place in Belém this November.

Norwegian Cruise Line has signed an agreement to transfer two of its longtime Sun-class vessels — Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun — to Cordelia Cruises, India’s leading cruise line. The move, announced by Cordelia Cruises this week, will significantly expand the brand’s capacity in the region.
According to the agreement, Norwegian Sky will transfer in 2026, followed by Norwegian Sun in 2027. 

AIDA Cruises, the German brand of Carnival Corporation, has announced the addition of two brand-new, mid-sized cruise ships to its fleet. Under a newly signed agreement with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, the vessels are set to debut in 2030 and 2032, marking a new class within the AIDA fleet.

Norwegian Aqua’s inaugural transatlantic voyage has been extended by three days due to severe weather conditions, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) confirmed. Originally scheduled to arrive in Boston on April 4, the ship will now reach U.S. shores on April 7, docking in New York City instead.

In a letter sent to guests onboard, NCL stated:

A 73-year-old tourist was arrested at Kobe Port Terminal in Japan after reporting a handgun in his luggage while preparing to board a cruise ship. Authorities suspect he passed through security at two airports undetected with the firearm before arriving at the port.

The cruise ship Discovery Princess broke free from its mooring lines due to unexpectedly strong winds at the port of San Francisco, causing a gangway to fall into the water. Fortunately, all passengers and crew remained safe, with no reported injuries.

A group of over 50 youths armed with machetes attacked cruise passengers visiting Mombasa, Kenya, robbing them of money, jewelry, and valuables. The violent incident has raised serious security concerns, leading to the cancellation of planned shore excursions.
