MSC Cruises relaxes testing and vaccination protocols for US residents

MSC Cruises has announced an update to its health and safety protocols for United States residents on voyages departing from US ports to the Caribbean and Bahamas. Beginning September 1, the line will relax its COVID-19 testing and vaccination protocols for US residents. Protocols remain unchanged for non-US residents. Here are the details:

Katy Perry christens Norwegian Prima in Reykjavik

Norwegian Cruise Line christened its newest ship Norwegian Prima, which made history as the first major cruise ship to be christened in Reykjavik, Iceland.

The first of six ships of the revolutionary Prima class, Norwegian Prima, debuted to more than 2,500 guests who enjoyed an immersive experience in the beautiful Icelandic capital and a christening celebration like no other.

Fred. Olsen cancels voyages due to lack of demand

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines announced cancellations of four winter voyages after bookings have not reached expected capacity levels at a time when fuel costs are high.

The company has also moved Bolet's winter schedule from Tilbury to Dover and Southampton. Affected guests have been contacted and the ship is scheduled to return on December 21 for a Christmas sailing to Norway.

Undocking of the P&O Cruises' Arvia expected this week

The undocking of the newest P&O Cruises ship Arvia is scheduled for August 27th at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Undocking will start in the morning at around 9:00 am. The new building then moors at the equipment pier at the shipyard port, where the masts and funnel will be fitted onto the ship by crane and installed. Until the transfer, the interior work on board in will continue and further technical tests and approvals will be carried out.
