The crew of Sun Princess has another reason to celebrate after the ship was awarded the Princess Cup, a special Princess Cruises trophy recognizing outstanding performance across the fleet.

Royal Caribbean employees came together to celebrate President and CEO Michael Bayley’s 45 years with the company.

The surprise celebration included a spirit tunnel, a DJ and Royal Caribbean entertainment as employees honored one of the cruise line’s longest-serving and most influential leaders.

Behind every crew member and officer, there is a remarkable story shaped by dreams, sacrifices and years of hard work. Before Captain Ivan Mladina took command of Carnival cruise ships, he represented Croatia at two Olympic Games and won two medals at the Mediterranean Games.

Born in Split, Croatia, Mladina made his Olympic debut at Sydney 2000, competing in the 100-meter butterfly and the 4x100-meter freestyle relay. Four years later, he returned to the Olympics in Athens as a member of Croatia’s 4x100-meter freestyle relay team. 

Royal Caribbean crew members have supported 83 community events around the world through the company’s ROYAL Crew Cares volunteer program.

According to an internal company newsletter, 643 crew members from 23 ships had participated in projects across 16 ports as of June 2026.

The initiative connects crew members with volunteer opportunities in the destinations visited by Royal Caribbean ships. Activities include community service projects, environmental initiatives and other forms of local assistance.

Royal Caribbean has recognized Zikang “Khan” Zhang, a Loyalty Ambassador aboard Allure of the Seas, for his thoughtful approach to guest service.

In one case highlighted by the cruise line, guests complained that outdoor movie nights had become unusually dark. Khan coordinated with several departments to address the problem and help restore the popular onboard experience.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has become the first cruise line to sign the Merchant Navy Welfare Board’s Seafarer Pledge, a new initiative focused on improving support and opportunities for seafarers.

The pledge recognizes the important role seafarers play in keeping countries connected through trade and travel while encouraging companies to invest in crew welfare, career development and future maritime talent.

The countdown to the Mediterranean Games has officially shifted into high gear with the arrival of the cruise ship Aroya Manara in Taranto, Italy. The cruise ship docked at the Italian Navy base on Sunday, marking a major milestone as the city prepares to welcome thousands of athletes from across the Mediterranean region.

Carnival promoted Daniela Gargiulo, the first woman in the company's history to serve as Staff Captain.

The appointment was celebrated on August 5 during a special ceremony aboard Carnival Adventure as the ship sailed back to Sydney from the South Pacific. Captain Francesco Bencivenga officially welcomed Gargiulo into her new role as his second-in-command.
