Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced that two-time Emmy Award-winning actor Eric Stonestreet, best known for his role on Modern Family, will serve as the godfather of its newest ship, Norwegian Aqua. The ship is set to debut in April 2025, offering cutting-edge features and innovative experiences.
Stonestreet will lead the naming ceremony on April 13, 2025, in Miami, performing the maritime tradition of breaking a champagne bottle across the ship’s bow to bless its journeys. The actor expressed excitement about his role, saying, "I am honored to be named godfather of Norwegian Aqua and thrilled by the ship’s incredible features, including the Aqua Slidecoaster and the new Sukhothai restaurant."
Norwegian Aqua, the first ship in NCL's Prima Plus Class, promises first-at-sea experiences like a hybrid waterslide and rollercoaster, the longest slide at sea, and the first-ever clay sauna. Guests can also enjoy The Haven’s luxurious three-bedroom duplex suites, a high-tech Glow Court sports complex, and unique dining venues like the Thai specialty restaurant, Sukhothai.
The ship will launch seven-day Caribbean itineraries from Port Canaveral before shifting to Bermuda cruises from New York City in late 2025.
