Norwegian Joy Skips Cozumel After Experiencing Propulsion Issue

Yesterday the cruise ship Norwegian Joy skipped the scheduled call to Cozumel, Mexico and is now heading back to its homeport Miami. The reason for this is that the vessel has been experiencing a technical issue affecting its maximum speed, reported several passengers sailing on the Joy. The ship was near Cozumel when the decision to skip the port was announced.

Norwegian Escape is Stuck on Sandbar in Puerto Plata

Norwegian Cruise Line cruise ship Norwegian Escape ran aground on a sandbar today, March 14, just off the coast of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. The incident happen as the cruise ship with 3.223 guests and 1.618 crew departed the port and got stuck shortly after at Taino Bay. Several tug boats were called to assist the ship, however, at this moment there is no progress as the Norwegian Escape has been stuck for 3 hours.

NCL to rise daily services charges - Will this reflect the distribution of the crew salaries?

Norwegian Cruise Line announced an increase of the daily services charges of crew gratuities. In a letter sent to guests and travel agents the company said that starting April 1, 2022, will be making a nominal adjustment to the daily service charges.

As the Covid-19 surge caused over the past several months by the Omicron variant continues to decline and many cruise ships are reporting zero Covid cases in the past few weeks, several cruise lines decided to relax some of the safety measures. This week Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line announced rolling back of its onboard mask policy for guests, allowing fully vaccinated passengers to go without masks in most of the public areas.
