Norwegian Cruise Line has revealed the first images of its highly anticipated Great Tides Waterpark, offering guests a preview of what will become one of the biggest attractions at Great Stirrup Cay when it opens next month.
The new waterpark is scheduled to officially debut on September 4, 2026, during a special ceremony held as Norwegian Luna visits the cruise line's private island in the Bahamas. Covering more than six acres (about 2.5 hectares), Great Tides Waterpark is the largest waterpark Norwegian Cruise Line has ever built and represents the centerpiece of the ongoing transformation of Great Stirrup Cay into a premier private island destination.
Designed to appeal to both thrill-seekers and families, the park will feature 19 waterslides, including several attractions making their debut in the cruise industry and across the Caribbean. Among the highlights is The Great Slide, a four-person raft slide described by NCL as the only attraction of its kind in the Caribbean, while Tidal Tower will introduce the region's first dual Master Blaster water coaster slides, using powerful water jets to propel riders uphill before sending them through drops and twists.
One of the park's signature attractions will be The Wandering River, an upgraded take on the traditional lazy river that includes the cruise industry's first immersive tunnel experience. Families with younger children will also find dedicated play areas at Splash Cay, featuring interactive water features designed for all ages.
Adventure lovers can head to Cliffside Cove, where NCL says guests will experience the cruise industry's first cliff-jumping attraction along with the Caribbean's tallest cliff-diving platform. Those looking for a more relaxed experience will be able to unwind in private cabanas or enjoy the adults-only Vibe Shore Club, which offers premium seating and a private bar.
The expansion extends beyond water attractions. Several new dining venues will open inside the park, including Low Tide Smoke for barbecue favorites, Catch of the Cay for seafood specialties, and Tidal Treats, serving ice cream, sundaes, and colorful waffle cone desserts. Guests will also find unique bar experiences, including the Floataway Bar, where they can enjoy a drink without leaving the water, while beverages remain included for guests sailing with Norwegian's eligible beverage packages.
The waterpark complements other recent upgrades on Great Stirrup Cay, including the island's new two-berth pier, allowing ships to dock directly instead of relying on tender boats. The improvement is expected to reduce waiting times and give visitors more time to enjoy the island.

He added that the combination of thrilling attractions, family activities, dining, and relaxation is designed to create an island experience that offers something for every type of traveler.
Guests sailing aboard Norwegian Luna on its August 29, 2026 departure will be among the first to experience the new attraction during the official opening on September 4. Day passes for Great Tides Waterpark are already available for cruises visiting Great Stirrup Cay beginning in September.
