Christmas Miracle - Celebrity Summit Crew Rescues Stranded Sailors

Christmas has truly come early this year for 6 sailors who were stranded out at sea for over a month, and without food and water for the past 6 days. After receiving crackled S.O.S. radio signal on December 16, Celebrity Summit Captain Kate McCue made an announcement saying that the bridge picked up a mayday signal and is changing course to assist. Half an hour later Summit had reached a small boat drifting madly in the waves, without sails and out of power, towing a damaged dingy.

Coast Guard Medevacs Crewmember from MS Oosterdam

A 33-year-old man, member of the MS Oosterdam crew was evacuated by the United States Coast Guard on Sunday, December 3, 2017. The crew member was suffering symptoms of appendicitis and needed urgent medical attention on land. Therefore the crew of the Holland America Line's cruise ship MS Oosterdam notified Coast Guard watchstanders that they need medical evacuation assistance.

Italian Coast Guard Medevacs Cruise Ship Crew Member in the Adriatic Sea

A crew member of the cruise ship Aidablu was evacuated this morning, Monday, July 10, by the Italian Coast Guard. The 34-year-old German national, experienced severe abdominal pain when the ship was 56 nautical miles of San Benedetto del Tronto. The vessel was sailing from Venice, Italy to Corfu, Greece when the medical evacuation took place.

Queen Mary 2 Rescues Sailor in the North Atlantic

British sailor Mervyn Wheatley is back on land after being rescued in the Atlantic Ocean from his battered yacht by the cruise liner Queen Mary 2. Cunard’s flagship participated last Saturday in the rescue of a man who had suffered problems with his yacht due to a strong storm. Mervyn Wheatley was participating in the transatlantic race Original Single Handed Transatlantic Race, known as OSTAR when his yacht was battered by strong gusts of wind.

TUI Crew Member Suffers Heart Attack Onboard

A 34-year-old Filipino crew member of the cruise ship "Mein Schiff 5" was evacuated by the Spanish Coast Guard on Tuesday evening due to medical emergency. The vessel was 54 miles from Palma de Mallorca when the ship's officers notified port authorities that a crew member had a heart attack, and was in need of urgent transfer to a hospital for further medical care.
