Disney Cruise Line to debut cruise ship float during Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Disney Cruise Line announced its debut of the new float christened "Magic Meets the Sea"during the 95th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The imaginatively designed "ship" is modeled after the newest ship in their fleet, Disney Wish.

The world's largest parade, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will be held on November 25 in New York City.

Royal Caribbean switches from PCR to pre-departure ART test in Singapore

From November 8, the current pre-departure polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test will be replaced with an antigen rapid test (ART) for all the guests on Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas. The test will be taken at the cruise terminal on the departure day. Currently, only two cruise ships are sailing from Singapore - Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas and Dream Cruises’ World Dream. 

Three cruise lines express interest for the new cruise terminal in Panama City

Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Norwegian Cruise Line have expressed their interest for the Amador Cruise Terminal in Panama City. Located on Perico Island of the Amador Causeway, Amador Cruise Terminal is in the final stage of construction, has a primary purpose to become a significant cruise port in the region. This port will be able to receive 5,000 passengers and two cruise ships at the same time.

P&O Cruises appoints Captain Camby for new ship Arvia

P&O Cruises has announced that Captain Robert Camby will take the helm of the cruise line’s new LNG-powered ship Arvia. According to a press release, Captain Camby will bring out Arvia from the German shipyard Meyer Werft to the home port of Southampton where the vessel will sail its inaugural winter cruises in December 2022, before re-positioning to Barbados for its first Caribbean season.

Mein Schiff Crew Receives the Best Cruise Spa Award 2021

TUI Cruises has received the “World's Best Cruise Spa” award for the fourth time in a row. Experts from the SPA and Wellness industry as well as guests worldwide voted online for their respective favorites. A total of seven cruise companies were nominated for the “World's Best Cruise Spa 2021”. The coveted title was also awarded digitally this year.

MSC Cruises Invites Artists and Designers to Design Hull of Upcoming Ship

MSC Cruises gives designers and artists from all over the world an opportunity to design the hull of the Euribia, currently under construction at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire, France. Since it is International Artists’ Day, MSC Cruises have decided to make it the beginning of the contest. 

CDC extends Conditional Sailing Order until January 2022

Federal health officials on Monday extended for three more months its rules that cruise ships must follow to sail during the pandemic. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention extended into January the “Conditional Sailing Order” on the cruise industry that was set to expire next week, citing concerns over the highly contagious delta variant and breakthrough cases among vaccinated travelers.

In 2023 Silversea Cruises will introduce the newest hybrid-powered cruise ship

Silversea Cruises, the ultra-luxury brand owned by Royal Caribbean Group, will debut a fuel-efficient hybrid vessel in the summer, 2023. No other cruise company currently has this capability. This ship is said to be the cruise industry’s first such vessel, with a hybrid solution enabling the ship to be local emissions-free while docked at ports.

Royal Caribbean Shares Icon of the Seas Construction Update

Royal Caribbean International shared construction updated on its first cruise ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), Icon of the Seas. The construction is well underway with the recent installation of the LNG Fuel Tank. The company released a video of the first tank recently installed weighting 307 tons. The thank is 90 feet (27 meters) long and 26 feet (8 meters) tall.
