The police in Bonaire are searching for the crew member Adriana Morales de Florencio, an employee of Royal Caribbean. The young woman of Mexican Nationality left the cruise ship, Navigator of the Seas, while the vessel was in Bonaire on April 20, but did not return before departure, setting off the alarm.
Due to strong winds at the port of Civitavecchia today, MSC Magnifica hit the pier minutes after the cruise ship departed with new passengers. The collision was caused by rapid change of the wind speed – from 9 to 40 knots in less than a minute, pushing the 293-meter long vessel to the pier which sustained some damage to the portside. Watertight doors were closed, at the time of the accident and passengers were called to their muster stations as a precaution measure.
Civitavecchia Port authorities received a distress call from the Holland America Line cruise ship MS Westerdam, shortly after the vessel left the port of Civitavecchia. According to the Italian Coast Guard, there was a medical emergency for a crew member with Romanian nationality who sustained a head injury and was unconscious.
