Carnival Cruise line will launch an internal investigation following the actions taken by their security personnel during the incident onboard Carnival Legend. “The actions seen on the video by our security team are not in line with our values and policies.

Antonio Triano Perez, 36-year-old Spanish crew member working as an animator on the cruise ship MSC Poesia was reported missing in Rio de Janeiro. The cruise ship docked on February 12, for the Rio Carnival and stayed overnight when Antonio disembarked alone and took a cab. When he didn’t come back to the ship his friend reported the missing person to the ship’s authorities and took to the social media to find him.

The cruise ship Pacific Explorer was forced to turn back to Sydney harbour, and end the voyage early due to an incident involving seven passengers. The confrontation took place last night at around 1am, when several men started arguing over toilet queue. Police says that during the clash between two groups a 37-year-old Russian woman hit a man with an empty wine bottle, causing a cut to his head. The onboard security separated the men and they were detained.

Princess Cruises and the Italian shipyard Fincantieri held a ceremony to mark the completion of the bow of Sky Princess. This ship will be the fourth unit belonging to the Royal class and will debut in October 2019 in a series of itineraries in the Mediterranean.

Starting this year Costa Cruises will reduce food waste on board its cruise ships by 50%. The program named "4GOODFOOD" developed with cooperation by University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo and Winnow, was already tested onboard Costa Diadema in 2016. The results during the trial period of 11 months have shown a reduction of food waste by over 50%, which is equivalent to a reduction of 1,189 tons of CO2, or the emissions of 231 cars in a year.

The 2018 Bacardi Legacy Global Cruise Cocktail Competition Finals will be held in Miami, on February 6. This Competition has attracted more than 1,600 entries from the cruise industry’s leading bartenders. Three bartenders have made it to the finals of the 13th annual competition who will compete for the title Bacardi Cruise Bartender of the Year and a chance to compete in the Global Finals in Mexico City, plus a $4,000 prize.
