Viking is set to embark in the heart of China with the ocean going ship Viking Yi Dun, formerly known as Viking Sun. This marks a significant milestone as Viking becomes the first cruise line to offer international travelers the opportunity to explore the coastal wonders of China.

Starting from September to November this year, the Chinese-flagged Viking Yi Dun will embark on a series of voyages, taking guests to iconic cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. The vessel, accommodating 930 guests in 465 all-veranda staterooms, promises an immersive experience combining luxury, cultural exploration, and scenic beauty.

Viking Chairman, Torstein Hagen, expressed his excitement, stating, "Viking will be the first to operate domestic sailings for international travelers." Having previously offered highly-rated Yangtze River voyages, Viking's expansion into coastal China brings a new dimension to exploring the rich history and diverse culture.

Guests aboard Viking Yi Dun can experience a range of highlights during their journey, including insightful lectures by Chinese experts, authentic Chinese cuisine, and excursions to iconic landmarks like the Great Wall of China.

Viking offers three itineraries:

1. Wonders of China – A 20-day cruise-and-tour itinerary featuring encounters with Tibetan families, walks on the Great Wall, and visits to the Terra Cotta Warriors. Guests will explore the scenic coasts of Dongtou, Gulangyu Island in Xiamen, and the UNESCO City of design, Shenzhen.

2. Classic China & the Coast – A 15-day itinerary covering Beijing, Xian, and Hong Kong, with a 10-day discovery voyage showcasing the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Terra Cotta Warriors, and other iconic landmarks. 

3. China Discovery – A 10-day Shanghai to Hong Kong itinerary offering experiences like exploring Buddhist shrines in Zhoushan, the cliffs of Dongtou, following the steps of 19th-century European diplomats on Gulangyu Island, and savoring Cantonese dim sum in Shenzhen.
