AIDA Cruises Names First German Female Captain

Nicole Langosch age 34, has been named captain of the cruise ship AIDAsol, becoming the first female master in the AIDA Cruises fleet. The naming ceremony was held on Sunday in the port of Gran Canaria, where Nicole Langosch took command of the vessel. After ten years working for Aida, she will be responsible for 2200 passengers and 630 crew.

Ed Sheeran new documentary to feature his cruise ship adventures

Documentary about Ed Sheeran entitled “Songwriter” is set to be released this month. The producer Murray Cummings who was working with Sheeran projects, including couple music videos was collecting footage over the years and chronicles Ed's journey as a singer/songwriter. The idea was to “capture the spark, inspiration that goes into writing songs and the initial idea behind the hits.

Representing Royal Caribbean International at the annual Bacardi Legacy finals Grover won this prestigious competition with his cocktail “The Royal Legacy”. Costa Cruises to reduce food waste by 50%

Starting this year Costa Cruises will reduce food waste on board its cruise ships by 50%. The program named "4GOODFOOD" developed with cooperation by University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo and Winnow, was already tested onboard Costa Diadema in 2016. The results during the trial period of 11 months have shown a reduction of food waste by over 50%, which is equivalent to a reduction of 1,189 tons of CO2, or the emissions of 231 cars in a year.

The 2018 Bacardi Legacy Global Cruise Cocktail Competition Finals will be held in Miami, on February 6. This Competition has attracted more than 1,600 entries from the cruise industry’s leading bartenders. Three bartenders have made it to the finals of the 13th annual competition who will compete for the title Bacardi Cruise Bartender of the Year and a chance to compete in the Global Finals in Mexico City, plus a $4,000 prize.

Turner, the global media giant behind Cartoon Network is entering the cruise market together with Oceanic Group. The news was made public yesterday, with the announcement of the first fully themed cruise ship named “Cartoon Network Wave”.
