Cruise Ship Clips Railroad Bridge in Massachusetts

The cruise ship Viking Star operated by Viking Ocean Cruises, on its way to New York City scraped the underside of a Railroad Bridge yesterday, October 12. According to Cape Cod Times, the Army Corps of Engineers is investigating the incident. As seen on the video bellow by Katie Barlow the ship Viking Star slowly sails under the bridge when a mast near the ships funnel scraped the underside of the bridge.

Carnival Spirit rescues 2 female crew stranded on superyacht

A Carnival cruise ship has responded to the distress SOS signal send by the luxury superyacht Masteka 2, off the NSW mid north coast in Australia. According to the marine safety authority, in the early morning hours on Tuesday the superyacht, with six crew members on board, lost steering and started taking on water around 140 nautical miles from Port Macquarie.

60 Tons Crane Falls Next to Royal Princess

During the scheduled dry dock in Palermo on Princess Cruises ship Royal Princess, a 60 tons crane fell to the yard just next to the ship. The accident happened yesterday inside the basin during a lifting operation. The crane detached from the top of the fixed platform which was a cause of the accident. Fortunately no one was near the place where the crane fell and there are no reported injured workers. 

Rhapsody of the Seas Damaged During Storm in Greece

Royal Caribbean Rhapsody of the Seas has been damaged by a strong winds that the ship encountered this morning. The ship was hit by powerful wind at 5:00 AM waking up all passengers onboard, while sailing near Greek Isles. The ship sustained damages in public areas and several large windows in the dinning room have been broken.  There are also reports that the ship heavily listed and water poured from the pool deck to several decks bellow.

Staff Member is Suing Royal Caribbean for $1 Million

Former staff member working as a musician on Royal Caribbean is suing the cruise line for negligence led to an unsafe work environment aboard, that caused injuries to the plaintiff. SE Texas Record reports that the victim, Gerald Dahir of Harbor City, California, filed a lawsuit in Galveston Southern District Court against Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., for violation of the Jones Act. 

Video: Carnival Vista wrong maneuver destroys $280 000 pier

The cruise ship Carnival Vista made a wrong maneuver destroying small tourist pier of Marina del Nettuno, in Messina, Italy. The 130 thousand tons giant of the seas, was performing maneuver to exit the port when it generated violent wave destroying two piers of reinforced concrete. The owner of the pier claims that the damages to the port are estimated at $280 000.
