A 42-year-old Filipino crew member has died on board the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Quantum of the Seas, according to a crew member who wishes to remain anonymous.

The ship’s medical team were called this afternoon to report of a cardiac arrest and Code Alpha was sounded on the PA system.

The crew aboard the cruise ship MSC Orchestra are devastated after the death of one of their colleague. The tragic event reportedly took place yesterday in the crew areas after the crew member sustained severe injury, our source said.

Hours after Carnival Horizon departed Grand Turk a Man Overboard was sounded onboard, and the ship’s crew started a search operation launching two lifeboats to find the missing person.

The crew member was working as a waiter and was already 9 months on the Oasis of the Seas, as he extend his current contract several times.

Two workers have lost their lives at the shipbreaking yards of Aliaga, Turkey, during the dismantling of the former Carnival cruise ship, Carnival Inspiration. The NGO Shipbreaking Platform in a press release reported that the fatal accident took place on July 12, when the workers were suddenly caught by flames in the engine room.

The cruise ship Orient Queen, owned by the Lebanese cruise line Abu Merhi Cruises, sank in the port of Beirut after being hit by one of the biggest non-nuclear explosions in human history. The ship which was about 300 meters from the explosion site was badly damaged and all efforts to save it were in vain. Expressing their deepest condolences Abu Merhi Cruises said the deadly explosion killed one crew member and one is still missing.
