Port of Civitavecchia Starts Cruise Ship Crew Vaccination - Norwegian Epic Crew First to Receive Johnson & Johnson Vaccine

Port of Civitavecchia started to coordinate COVID-19 vaccine distribution to cruise ship crew members which will be able to get vaccinated directly on board. Around 10.000 crew are expected to be vaccinated in the following weeks, thanks to the Lazio Region, the Port System Authority of the Central Northern Tyrrhenian Sea, Asl Roma 4 and Usmaf.

NCL crew on Norwegian Joy and Gem to be vaccinated in Puerto Rico

Norwegian Cruise Line crew members onboard Norwegian Joy and Gem will receive vaccine against Covid-19 in Puerto Rico during the technical stops in June and July.

Norwegian Joy will dock in San Juan on June 19, to vaccinate around 1900 crew members currently on board. Norwegian Gem is scheduled to arrive on July 5, to vaccinate around 1500 crew.

NCLH Announces Restart of Additional Cruise Ships Across Its Three Brands

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings announced today the next phase of its planned restart of cruising across its three cruise lines. NCL will resume cruise operations on eight additional ships by the beginning Fall 2021, Oceania Cruises with three, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises will deploy all five ships back to service by February 2022. All initial cruises will operate with fully vaccinated crew and in addition to the Company’s multi-layered SailSAFE™ health and safety program.

NCLH temporarily halts crew assignments from countries with high Covid-19 prevalence

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings is temporarily suspending all assignments for its crew from India, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and South Africa amid a surge of Covid-19 cases in these countries. According to a letter by NCLH Vice President, Shipboard HR Operations the company has made a hard decision to suspend incoming crew movement based on reviewing crewing pools by country considering three factors: Prevalence, Number of mutations, and general availability of vaccines to seafarers in the listed count

Letter from Myanmar Crew to the Cruise Lines – Don't leave us in this storm

Like many nations struggling with the Covid-19 pandemic, Myanmar faces additional destabilizing risks from the military coup. Cruise ship crew members from this country shared their concerns about the current situation and worries that this might affect their next sign-on date. In hopes that the cruise lines will not forget them they sent an open letter voicing their concerns.
