Costa Luminosa to Join Carnival Cruise Line as Carnival Luminosa

Carnival Cruise Line announced that Costa Cruises ship Costa Luminosa will join the Carnival fleet in September and will begin operations as Carnival Luminosa in November 2022 from Brisbane, Australia. 

The acquisition of Costa Luminosa is an update of previously announced plans for Carnival to take over Costa Magica, which will now remain at Costa Cruises.

AIDAvita to Leave Aida Cruises Fleet

After 20 successful years in service for Aida Cruises, AIDAvita is leaving the fleet. AIDAcara had to leave the fleet last year, and now it's AIDAvita turn. 

From the departure of the AIDAcara until today, the AIDAvita was the oldest ship in the fleet built in 2002. However, as the oldest ship, AIDAvita has not completed a single cruise since the start of the pandemic. Again and again, a restart was planned but then has to be canceled. AIDA Cruises fleet is now reduced to twelve cruise ships,

“Stop Cruises” activists block Marseille port entrance, Wonder of the Seas and MSC Orchestra arrival delayed 2 hours

This morning about 20 activists from the “Stop Cruises” movement attempted to block the entrance of the Wonder of the Seas and MSC Orchestra at the port of Marseille in France. The activists on inflatable canoes blocked the cruise ships from entering the port for two hours.

Royal Caribbean Group is looking to adopt SpaceX’s next-generation high-speed satellite internet system Starlink onboard its ships. Starlink is a high-speed broadband Internet service from SpaceX that connects to the constellation Low Earth Orbit (LEO). SpaceX intends to provide affordable internet with sustainable speeds anywhere and anywhere in the world.

COVID Cases Rise on MSC Seaside - Crew Members Face Restrictions

Due to the increase of Covid cases aboard the cruise ship MSC Seaside, MSC Cruises is revoking some of the crew privileges and access to public areas. Moreover, the company is restoring the possibility to disembark crew towards ashore facilities in order to contain the number of positive cases on board within limits that can be acceptable by different port health authorities.
