Dufry to operate retail shops on all Holland America Line cruise ships

The global travel retailer company Dufry has signed an additional contract to operate duty-free shops on 6 additional cruise ships operated by Holland America Line. This is an important milestone for Dufry due to the fact that the company will operate all duty-free shops on board the entire fleet of a cruise company.

Frank Del Rio Inducted Into Travel Hall of Fame

Frank Del Rio, chief executive of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, was inducted into the British Travel and Hospitality Hall of Fame. The ceremony hosted by Jacobs Media Group was held on April 29, at The Dorchester hotel in London where Frank Del Rio was recognized for his achievers in the travel and leisure sector, honoring his significant achievements.

Serbian Crew Member Found Dead On Princess Cruise Ship

Several people have informed Crew Center that a crew member died onboard the Princess Cruises ship Island Princess. The crew member is a Serbian National working in the Galley Department onboard Island Princess. According to reports, the crew member was discovered dead in his cabin yesterday. Some people are saying that it is an apparent suicide but this is not confirmed. At this moment we are not disclosing the crew member’s name. 

Cruise Line Employee Accused of embezzling $3.6 Million

A former Silversea Cruises employee has been accused of stealing $3.6 million from the luxury cruise line. According to the files presented to the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the 53-year-old Filipino National, Mary Ann Abellanoza, who was working as an accounting supervisor for Silversea Cruises in Sydney’s office, executed deliberate and calculated fraud.

Cruise Ship Captain Apologizes After Posting Wrong Sign in Gibraltar

Gibraltar Chief Minister Fabian Picardo, received a written apology from the Captain of the Holland America Line cruise ship MS Koningsdam after a wrong welcome sign was posted in front of the vessel with an outline map of the Rock painted in the Spanish flag. Located near the southernmost tip of Spain, Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory and therefore this error is considered to be offensive and provocative to the people of Gibraltar.

Carnival Paradise Rescues Sailors From Sinking Ship

The cruise ship Carnival Paradise rescued two local sailors after their boat started to sink on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Carnival Paradise had left Cozumel and was sailing towards Tampa, Florida when the ship’s crew spotted a vessel requesting for help after the boat started to take on water. The cruise ship lowered a lifeboat and rescued the sailors from the sinking ship. Shortly after a vessel from the Mexican Coast Guard arrived at the scene to take the sailors back to shore.

Virgin Voyages Announces Official Hiring Partners and Global Recruitment Tour

Virgin Voyages has released the list of their official hiring partners and will take off on a global recruitment tour to find their top-notch crew. The new cruise line says it will make real sea-change in the cruise industry with the launching of their first 110,000-ton, 2,750-passenger cruise ship named Scarlet Lady in 2020, and additional two ships which will sail starting in 2021 and 2022.
