This Sunday afternoon, while sailing from Tampa to Roatan, Honduras, the Carnival cruise ship Carnival Paradise was involved in a rescue operation. The ship's bridge team noticed a small vessel carrying 27 Cuban nationals who were signaling for help, prompting them to turn the ship around to assist.

Carnival Glory resumed operations yesterday in Barcelona after completing a 21-day refurbishment. The ship embarked on a 14-day transatlantic cruise and is heading to its new base in Port Canaveral, Florida. Before departure, Captain Luca Cherchi held a plaque exchange with Port of Barcelona representatives.

Carnival is looking to sell its long-standing headquarters in Doral, Florida, and relocate to a more modern and smaller office space within the Miami area. Carnival has operated from its headquarters on Northwest 87th Avenue in Doral for approximately 30 years, having acquired the site in late 1994 for $23 million which, according to 2023 property county appraisal assessed the market value at $66.1 million.

Captain Niccolo De Ranieri and the crew of the Carnival Cruise Line's Mardi Gras were recognized for their rescue operation that saved 16 lives. This acknowledgment came in the form of the Cruise Ship Humanitarian Assistance Award presented by the Association for Rescue at Sea (AFRAS) during their annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Carnival Cruise Line announced that due to ongoing rescue and recovery operations in Baltimore Harbor following the Key Bridge collapse, its operations for Carnival Legend will be temporarily relocated to Norfolk, Virginia.

Carnival Corporation has signed an agreement with Meyer Werft shipyard to construct a new addition to its Excel-class of ships for the Carnival Cruise Line brand. The new vessel, boasting a gross tonnage of 180,000, is scheduled for delivery in 2028. The new vessel will operate using liquefied natural gas (LNG), marking a significant step towards sustainable cruising.

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, a critical bridge and key access point for cargo and cruise ships, collapsed early Tuesday after being hit by a container ship. This incident, which sent vehicles plummeting into the water below, was declared a mass-casualty event. 

Carnival Cruise Line has welcomed its latest addition, the Carnival Firenze, following its transformation from the former Costa Firenze. This conversion was carried out at the Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, Spain. Carnival Firenze departed its dry dock in Cadiz, embarking towards its new destination on the west coast of the United States to Long Beach, Los Angeles, with only crew onboard.

On Saturday a blaze ignited in the exhaust funnel of the cruise ship Carnival Freedom while sailing near the Bahamas. After two hours the fire was put out, yet the damage proved more severe than initially thought, leading to the cancellation of the Freedom's March 25 and 29 sailings from Port Canaveral. 

Carnival Cruise Line has announced its latest venture in expanding its fleet, finalizing an agreement with the German shipbuilder Meyer Werft to construct another Excel-class ship. Set to debut in spring 2027, this fourth Excel-class vessel marks a significant milestone for Carnival Corporation, representing its first new-build order in five years.
