Viking Sky Engine Failure Caused by Low Oil Level

After investigating the incident Norwegian Maritime Authority announced today that the cruise ship Viking Sky motors failed because of relatively low oil levels in the engines. Lars Alvestad, the head of Norway's Maritime Authority, said that low oil levels were the "direct cause" of the engine failure that stranded Viking Sky over the weekend while the vessel was sailing from Tromso to Stavanger with 1,400 passengers and crew on board.

8 Injured after crane falls on Oasis of the Seas

A large construction crane collapsed today on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Oasis of the Seas during the dry dock refurbishment at the Grand Bahamas Shipyard. Eight people are reported injured in the incident, company officials said.

“We are responding to a construction site incident at the Great Bahamas Shipyard, where Oasis of the Seas is currently in dry dock.”

Cruise ship comes to help Oasis of the Seas crew members

2000 crew members were evacuated from Oasis of the Seas after a large crane crashed on the cruise ship during dry dock in Freeport, Bahamas. The incident caused the ship to list on one side and parts of the dry dock are damaged. All the crew were safely evacuated on land and expected to stay overnight in Freeport city, Grand Bahamas.

Carnival Ecstasy passengers hospitalized after tour bus crash in the Bahamas

A tour bus with 32 guests from the cruise ship Carnival Ecstasy crashed Monday morning near Rock Sound, Eleuthera in the Bahamas. News reports state that 26 people suffered injuries from the crash operated by Eleuthera Adventure Tours Limited and organized by Carnival Cruise Line shore excursion Cathedral Cove, Ocean Hole and Rock Sound Island Tour.

Two passengers are suing the German Cruise Line TUI Cruises for psychological and emotional pain they endured after they were kicked off a cruise ship the second day of their Caribbean cruise. The couple boarded the ship “Mein Schiff 5” in April, and the following day they were told by the ship's officers they must leave the vessel in Barbados.  As reported by Reise Reporter the couple had been "passionate" in their stateroom and they forgot to close the balcony door.

Bomb threat reported to a cruise ship in port of San Juan

Local Media outlets in Puerto Rico report of a bomb threat this morning to a cruise ship that was docked in Port of San Juan. The incident was reported when the Police Department received an anonymous 911 call around 10:52 am saying that "he was fed up with the government and that a cruise ship was going to explode."

Deadly Bus Accident in Belize Kills 5 People Including 2 Cruise Passengers

A tragic accident involving a tourist bus with cruise ship passengers and a red SUV happened today on the George Price Highway in Belize. The accident occurred after the van full with cruise ship passengers was returning from a popular tour at Jaguar Paw Cave.
