P&O Arcadia Breaks From Moorings in Bermuda

The P&O cruise ship Arcadia broke mooring lines today while the vessel was docked at Kings Wharf, Bermuda. The ship which was staying overnight broke free at around 2:53 am local time due to strong winds. According to the PTZ Video posted online from the Port Bermuda webcam, Arcadia drifted backwards and sideways for a short period of time before the ship’s crew brought maneuvering power back. The ship was safely brought to the dock and no injuries are reported.

Two Filipino Crew Members Severely Burned On Norwegian Escape

The US Coast Guard performed a medical rescue evacuation of two crewmembers who reportedly suffered from second-degree burns on the NCL cruise ship Norwegian Escape on Monday evening. A officer onboard contacted watchstanders at the Fifth District command center at 3:50 p.m. requesting an urgent medical evacuation of two Filipino crewmen, 25 and 26 years of age, who suffered burns caused by a fire in the engine room.

Video: Cruise ship crashes into four yachts in Dartmouth, England

The cruise ship Saga Pearl 2 has hit as many as 4 luxury yachts during a maneuver in the small port of Dartmouth on 29th August. The vessel piloted by Captain Mark Cooper (the Harbourmaster) was brought into the Port of Dartmouth. During a maneuver to turn, the ship clipped 4 yachts causing superficial damage. No one was hurt in the incident and the harbour office is now making all efforts to contact the owners of the yacht involved.

Carnival Horizon Hits Pier at Manhattan Cruise Terminal

The cruise ship Carnival Horizon hit Pier 90 this morning in New York City while performing a docking maneuver at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal.. According to Carnival Cruise Line statement, no one was hurt by the collision, and the cruise ship sustained minor damages. Part of the parking garage and two support beams were damaged by the crash.

Two Crew Members Reported Overboard From Explorer of the Sea

Two crew members from the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Explorer of the Seas went overboard last night near the port of Victoria, British Columbia. According to the reports ship’s Captain announced “Code Oscar” on the loudspeakers on Thursday evening at around 8:00 p.m. local time. Joint Rescue Coordination Centre reports that the crew was working on a lifeboat when they ended up in the water. Luckily they were wearing life vests and shortly after other boats joined the rescue operation.

Cruise ship hits pier in Norway after moorings fail in high wind

There was a big drama today in the port of Honningsvag, Norway when the cruise ship “Mein Schiff 3” broke free from its moorings due to strong winds. The incident happen around 8:15 pm when sudden strong winds with speed of 49 knots hit the vessel operated by TUI Cruises. The cruise ship collided with the pier and caused damage both to the docks and the ship itself.
