Carnival Paradise Rescues Sailors From Sinking Ship

The cruise ship Carnival Paradise rescued two local sailors after their boat started to sink on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Carnival Paradise had left Cozumel and was sailing towards Tampa, Florida when the ship’s crew spotted a vessel requesting for help after the boat started to take on water. The cruise ship lowered a lifeboat and rescued the sailors from the sinking ship. Shortly after a vessel from the Mexican Coast Guard arrived at the scene to take the sailors back to shore.

A True Hero – Star Princess Crew Member Saves Guest From Drowning

A kind-hearted crew member has been named a hero for saving an elderly passenger from drowning onboard the cruise ship Star Princess while the vessel was sailing to Hilo on 4th of April. The Indonesian Housekeeping Attendant Sugiri, was at the right place at the right time when elderly Italian gentlemen started drowning in the ship’s main pool after having a suspected heart attack symptoms.

Carnival Fantasy comes to the rescue of 23 people on disabled boat

The cruise ship Carnival Fantasy rescued 23 people on Sunday who had been drifting in the Gulf of Mexico for days. According to reports 22 Cuban nationals sailed from Cuba to Mexico on a wooden boat when it lost power, setting them adrift for days.  A Cuban-Mexican raised them to his sport fishing boat, but then he also suffered an engine failure and the group spent another three days at sea. They managed to establish contact with the US Coast Guard and requested evacuation from the stranded boat.

Pregnant Crew Member Airlifted From MSC Cruise Ship

The Spanish search and rescue agency Salvamento Maritimo performed a remarkable evacuation of a Brazilian woman who was in labor on a cruise ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. After experiencing contractions and almost giving birth on board MCS Seaview the woman was airlifted from the vessel some 400 miles of the coast of Gran Canaria on Monday, April 8, 2019.

Viking Sky Engine Failure Caused by Low Oil Level

After investigating the incident Norwegian Maritime Authority announced today that the cruise ship Viking Sky motors failed because of relatively low oil levels in the engines. Lars Alvestad, the head of Norway's Maritime Authority, said that low oil levels were the "direct cause" of the engine failure that stranded Viking Sky over the weekend while the vessel was sailing from Tromso to Stavanger with 1,400 passengers and crew on board.

Smoke and Medical Evacuation of a Crew Member on Carnival Sensation

A crew member who was in need of urgent shoreside medical care was airlifted from Carnival Sensation by the US Coast Guard on February 9. The cruise ship which was sailing towards Cozumel was diverted to Key West, Florida to rendezvous with a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter for a medical evacuation. Because of the medical emergency, the stop to Cozumel was canceled.

Celebrity Solstice narrowly avoids wiping out stricken boat

Four youngsters on inflatable boat had a frighteningly close call with the 122,000 tonne cruise ship Celebrity Solstice in Tauranga Harbour, Australia. The Bay of Plenty Regional Council posted the video showing the Celebrity Cruises ship leaving the Port of Tauranga on December 14, when a small rubber boat run out of fuel.
