Fred Olsen Cruise Lines has confirmed that its chairman has resigned from his position and from the company's board.
Chief Executive Peter Deere said Fred Olsen Junior resigned in July, after 35 years in the cruise industry. Mr Deere expressed gratitude to Olsen Jr. for "his support and long service to our company."
Celebrity Cruise has rolled out a pilot program on one of its ships to test the masks-free policy on selected crew. All nonguest facing crew will be mask free for a duration of two weeks, and if the results are promising this will lead to even more relaxed protocols across the fleet. Windstar Cruises has revised its COVID-19 protocols and procedures and will no longer require pre-cruise COVID-19 testing for boarding guests, the statement said, unless required by one of the countries on the planned routes. These changes will take effect for cruises departing on or after September 6, 2022. Windstar said it would still require all guests to be fully vaccinated and to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination.
