Norwegian Bliss Starts 2022 Alaskan Cruise Season

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Bliss became the first cruise ship to open this year’s Alaska cruise season, from the port of Seattle. NCL has a long history of cruising from Seattle to Alaska, having initiated the route in 2001 and Norwegian Bliss is first of five Norwegian Cruise Line vessels to cruise The Last Frontier through October 2022. 

Aida Cruises Removes PCR Testing

AIDA Cruises becomes the first cruise line that will not require a mandatory PCR test before embarkation. For all AIDA trips starting from April 28, 2022, a PCR test is no longer required when checking in at the port terminal. In the future, only a quick antigen test one day before departure will be required for all guests over the age of 3 to participate in the planned trip.

Costa Luminosa crew member transferred to hospital after suffering a heart attack

A crew member of the cruise ship Costa Luminosa was medically evacuated at the port of Funchal yesterday evening after suffering a heart attack. Funchal Port Authority was informed by the ship’s Captain, after the vessel departed on April 25, requesting to return to port in order to disembark a crew member in need of urgent hospital treatment. 

Arnold Donald steps down as Carnival CEO, Josh Weinstein to become new chief

Carnival Corporation shakes up things on the top replacing Arnold Donal who led Carnival to record results before Covid-19 with Josh Weinstein as president and chief executive on 1 August. Weinstein, currently chief operations officer, will become only the third person to lead the cruise giant founded by chairman Micky Arison.
