Zenith Arrives In India For Scrapping

The former Celebrity Cruises and Pullmantur ship Zenith has arrived at the shipyard in Alang, India. The 30-year-old cruise ship, currently moored off the coast of Alang, will be scrapped in the coming months. The ship follows her sister Horizon, which arrived at the scrapyard in Aliaga, Turkey, just over three weeks ago, also for scrapping. Both ships were sailings for Celebrity Cruises and the Spanish cruise opertor Pullmantur.

Hurricane Fiona forces MS Amera to change route

The cruise ship MS Amera operated by Phoenix Reisen is currently on a 38-day trip to Greenland and Canada. The ship was forced to modify its route on the first leg of the journey from Bremerhaven to Montreal. 

From September 23-25, the Amera was sheltered by the port of St. Johns to avoid the hurricane at sea and ensure the safety of crew and guests. 

Letter from Costa crew member: How do we fit in the future of our company with ship transfers and lay-ups?

Crew Center received a letter from Costa Cruises crew member expressing his concerns about the latest transfer of Costa Luminosa, and two additional ships to Carnival Cruise Line, in regards to what will happen to the crew and the future of the company. Lack of clarity when and if other Costa ships, currently in lay-up, are expected to restart, is leaving many crew members in limbo. 

Carnival Updates on Hurricane Ian’s Impact on Cruises

Carnival Cruise Line's fleet operations team in Miami closely monitors Hurricane Ian and its potential impact on current cruise routes. Due to expected weather, Port of Tampa Bay and Port of Jacksonville (JAKSPort) are now closed and, as a result, these two upcoming sailings have been canceled:

Carnival Paradise - Four-day cruise from Tampa, Florida on Thursday, September 29. 

Carnival Celebration Names Cassidy Gifford as Godmother

Carnival Cruise Line has announced that Kathie Lee Gifford's daughter, actress Cassidy Gifford, will serve as godmother of its newest ship, Carnival Celebration. Kathie was surprised by the news from her mother, who was the godmother of Carnival Celebration's namesake, the MS Celebration, christened in 1987. Her mother has been a spokesperson for Carnival in the company's TV campaigns since the 80s, which were the first such networks to broadcast commercials for the cruise industry.
