Norwegian Joy Skips Cozumel After Experiencing Propulsion Issue

Yesterday the cruise ship Norwegian Joy skipped the scheduled call to Cozumel, Mexico and is now heading back to its homeport Miami. The reason for this is that the vessel has been experiencing a technical issue affecting its maximum speed, reported several passengers sailing on the Joy. The ship was near Cozumel when the decision to skip the port was announced.

Costa offers cruise ship to house Ukrainian refugees

Costa Cruises is offering one of its cruise ships to house Ukrainian refugees fleeing the Russian invasion of their country. The company offered the cruise ship Costa Magica, which is currently out of service, to the Italian government as a potential hosing vessel for the Ukrainian refugees, if the number of refugees arriving in Italy increases in the coming weeks.

MSC Cruises has announced that the company is now the official Global Partner of Formula 1 for the upcoming 2022 season. The multi-year deal will see the Swiss-based cruise line, bring some of MSC’s most technologically advanced cruise ships port-side during select Grand Prix weekends, enabling guests to complement the high-end experience of F1 and drive global visibility for its brand.

Ukrainian crew member missing in war-torn city of Mariupol

A young cruise ship crew member has been reported missing in the war-torn city of Mariupol. Family and friends are searching for the 26-year-old Anatoly Burma, who went missing on March 2. He is a crew working for the Italian cruise company Costa Cruises as an assistant bartender. Anatoly completed his contract and returned back to Ukraine on February 20, and arrived in Mariupol on February 22, just two days before the invasion of Ukraine started.

Cruise Ship Passenger Arrested After Police Find 46 Pounds of Meth In His Luggage

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Raiatea, French Polynesia after the discovery of 46 pounds of methamphetamine found in his luggage. The authorities say that the passenger, who is a Tahitian national, sailing aboard the Holland America Line cruise ship MS Zuiderdam wanted to offload a suitcase when the vessel arrived in Raiatea on Thursday, March 17. When they inspected his luggage they found more than 9 pounds of the illicit drug in the suitcase.

MSC Cruises To Allow Crew Shore Leave

MSC Cruises announced easing of the crew shore leave restrictions across its fleet. Starting March 31, all crew members who are fully vaccinated and not on duty will be allowed to disembark and enjoy the destinations visited by MSC cruise ships. More details will be shared in the coming days about the leave allowed at ports depending of the ship’s deployment region and based on the current local COVID 19 requirements.
