The Germany-based cruise line AIDA Cruises announced the restart of voyages on Aidaluna. Starting September 5 AIDAluna will set sail from Kiel on three- and four-day cruises, becoming the seventh ship in the AIDA fleet to restart guest operations in 2021.
During the four-day voyage, AIDAluna will call at the Polish port of Gdynia after a sea day passing the island of Gotland, among others.
Two workers have lost their lives at the shipbreaking yards of Aliaga, Turkey, during the dismantling of the former Carnival cruise ship, Carnival Inspiration. The NGO Shipbreaking Platform in a press release reported that the fatal accident took place on July 12, when the workers were suddenly caught by flames in the engine room.
The Cruise Division of MSC Group has joined forces with Fincantieri and Snam to determine the conditions for the design and construction of the world’s first oceangoing hydrogen-powered cruise ship. The partnership which will initially conduct a feasibility study to examine requirements to build the ship is part of MSC’s plan towards achieving net carbon neutral operations by 2050.
Today Crew Center received a message that the Captain of the Norwegian Getaway Konstantinos Gkokas, and his crew performed a successful rescue operation of 34 people that were stranded on a small boat which was not under command. The rescue operation took place on July 23, 2021 in the Mediterranean after the boat was found in distress.
Great News coming from the Anthem of the Seas with the announcement of more relaxed operation for the crew. Starting from today July 25, the crew are no longer required to wear masks in the crew areas. Royal Caribbean has reviewed the protocols for the ship after all the crew was fully vaccinated and approved to change the set of protocols.

Once the ship is completed by the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, Captain Gennaro Arma will officially bring the ship into service from the shipyard in Monfalcone.
Royal Caribbean International cruise ship Serenade of the Seas kicked off the Alaska season as the first ship to sail to the Last Frontier since September 2019.
