The latest Carnival cruise ship, Carnival Vista, failed the USPH inspection. The ship received 79 points after inspectors found numerous violations, most of them related to the Food and Beverage department. The inspection was held in December, however, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released the report of violations today.

Today, January 12, at the Port of Barcelona there has been a slight collision between the GNV Fantastic ferry and the cruise ship Viking Star operated by Viking Ocean Cruises. The collision between the two vessels happened at around 2 pm local time at the Terminal B, when GNV Fantastic ferry experienced engine problems during the undocking maneuver from the terminal.

The cruise ship Anthem of the Seas barely passed the recent USPH Inspection. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Inspectors boarded the vessel on January 2, at Port Canaveral, Florida, and found several violations. The ship was eventually given 86 points which is only one point of failing the inspection (an 85 or lower score on the CDC's 100-point inspection scale is considered failing grade).
Five P&O Arcadia crew members were injured yesterday when a lifeboat fell into the sea. The cruise ship was docked at Ponta Delgada, Azores when a terrible accident occurred during a routine lifeboat drill. All five injured crew members were inside the lifeboat. One crew member with broken ribs was taken to local hospital for further treatment. He was then returned to ship. The other four crew members were lightly injured with cuts and bruises and been treated onboard.
Royal Caribbean has announced its annual raise of automatic gratuities for the crew. Starting January 2, 2018, guests in regular staterooms will pay a $14.50 per guest per day service charge and $17.50 for guests in Grand Suite and above. That is one dollar raise from the previous service charge, which means one dollar extra for the crew. That is one dollar extra for the crew in theory. Reality is something different.

Half an hour later Summit had reached a small boat drifting madly in the waves, without sails and out of power, towing a damaged dingy.
