AIDA Cruises AIDAprima fueled with 100% biofuel for the first time

As part of its Green Cruising strategy, AIDA Cruises has reached another important milestone in the gradual decarbonization of its fleet. Continuing the successful cooperation with the Dutch biofuel pioneer GoodFuels the cruise line announced today that AIDAprima was refueled for the first time with 100 percent sustainable biofuel in the port of Rotterdam on December 8.

The naming ceremony took place at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in recognition of New York becoming MSC Cruise's newest U.S. homeport in April 2023, offering wider variety of North American itineraries for guests.

Tragedy on Antarctica expedition voyage: One person dies aboard Viking Polaris

One person died and four were injured when a massive freak wave crashed into the expedition cruise ship Viking Polaris, during a storm as it sailed off the southernmost tip of South America. The Viking Polaris was sailing Tuesday towards Ushuaia, Argentina, the home port for expedition ships to Antarctica, when there was “a rogue wave incident,” Viking said in a statement.
