60 Tons Crane Falls Next to Royal Princess

During the scheduled dry dock in Palermo on Princess Cruises ship Royal Princess, a 60 tons crane fell to the yard just next to the ship. The accident happened yesterday inside the basin during a lifting operation. The crane detached from the top of the fixed platform which was a cause of the accident. Fortunately no one was near the place where the crane fell and there are no reported injured workers.

2nd Crew Member Dies in Hospital after NCL Breakaway Accident

After one month intensive care in Jackson Memorial Hospital, Ben Buenaventura died from the injuries sustained in the tragic incident when a Norwegian Breakaway lifeboat fell into the water. The incident happened on Jul 20, 2016, during a weekly lifeboat drill while the ship was docked in Kings Wharf, Bermuda. Four crew members were in the lifeboat when line snapped and one crew member, 41-year old, Diogenes Carpio died immediately.

Passenger Arrested for Groping Woman on Norwegian Breakaway

NYPD arrested a British man for groping a woman as she was dancing on Norwegian Breakaway while the ship was docked at a pier in the Hudson River. According to Manhattan District Attorney’s office, the victim is 21-year-old female from New Jersey, who was dancing at the Bliss Ultra Lounge on Norwegian Breakaway, on September 4 when the incident occurred. The man identified as Lee Ashley Berry, 28, approached her at around 1:30 a.m from behind and groped her. At that time the ship was docked at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal 

Norwegian Joy Hull Art Revealed

NCL cruise ship Norwegian Joy will set sail to China next year with stunning hull design of a giant phoenix bird. The cruise company announced today that has commissioned the Chinese artist Tan Ping to design the hull artwork of the new Breakaway-Plus class vessel. Norwegian Joy is the Norwegian Cruise Line's first purpose-built cruise ship for the Chinese market. Tan Ping's artwork will deliver Norwegian Joy closer to the Chinese consumers providing an unparalleled cruise experience to this region.

Deceased NCL Breakaway Crew Member identified

Bermuda authorities have identified the Norwegian Breakaway crew member who lost his life during the emergency lifeboat drill after a rescue speed boat broke from its tethering. According to the Bermuda news site “Royal Gazette” the deceased is a 41-year old Filipino national Diogenes Carpio. The captain of the catamaran Aristocrat, who assisted in the rescue said that the crew member was floating in the water next to the overturned boat.

Four Norwegian Breakaway Crew Members Injured in Rescue Boat Accident

Four crew members were rushed to hospital after a rescue boat fell from the cruise ship Norwegian Breakaway. The incident occurred in Bermuda Dockyard cruise terminal this afternoon while the cruise ship was docked. Police spokesman confirmed that a portside rescue boat had fallen from the NCL cruise ship Norwegian Breakaway resulting in four crew members falling into the water according to Bernews.

NCL Plans to Send Norwegian Sky to Cuba

“I’m literally waiting for the phone to ring to give the final approval. Operations are imminent when we receive the green light. ” Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings CEO Frank Del Rio said yesterday in a press briefing. Mr. Del Rio expects approval and permission from the authorities in Havana, in order for NCLH brands to begin cruises to Cuba. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings hopes to set sail to Cuba as early as November 2016.

Aircraft fly dangerously close to Norwegian Breakaway

The French navy maritime surveillance aircraft type Dassault Falcon 50 “Surmar” caused disturbance among the passengers sailing onboard Norwegian Breakaway. The aircraft passed four times close to the cruise ship that had just departed from St. Gerorge, Bermuda. Several passengers express concern over the low-flying aircraft, and some fearing it might have been a terrorist attack.
